COMMUNITY HALL

Masterplan & Working Drawings for Council Approval (working with local committee) (2009)

The Community Hall is home to the Burrawang School of Arts and is run for the benefit of the community by a committee of local volunteers. Recent years have seen a resurgence in social activity in the village, increasing demands on the hall as a venue. The initial brief from the committee was to upgrade the northern garden primarily to improve accessibility and allow it to more safely cater for the growing number of community events and private functions.

Generously proportioned steps with hand rails provide access from the nature strip to the hall entrances via a partly paved terrace. The steps and garden beds include 45 degree returns tying in with the angle at which the prominent war monument is set. Planting is simple, strong and primarily evergreen to allow good year round presentation with relatively minimal maintenance.
